Lucia Perez is the current lead vocalist for the indie rock group Ex Norwegian. Born in Olgin, Cuba, her inspiration to sing came at the age of 10; thanks in part to her mom constantly playing Latin singer-songwriter Selena around the house. However, it was wasn’t until high school, when she joined the school’s chorus ensemble, that her performances went beyond imitating singers in front of her mirror. It was also during this time that Lucia began mixing in with the music crowd. “My friends were all musicians and that really inspired me,” she says, reflecting back on those days.
Fast forward to October 2013, and a chance opportunity to join one of her favorite Miami-based groups, Ex Norwegian, came about. The match worked immediately; kick starting a new chapter in the bands career and essentially starting hers. In fact, in the few short months since joining, Lucia has already performed on national TV, recorded an album in Los Angeles, seen the first single to feature her lead vocals hit over 6,000 SoundCloud plays and over 3,000 on Spotify only on its first week of release, gotten radio play and excellent reviews as well as performed high profile gigs on both the East and West Coasts. And it’s only the beginning…
Aside from singing, Lucia also strums some guitar, ukelele, bass, keyboard and most recently started learning the harmonica. She also enjoys painting, photography, biking and does the occasional modeling. She currently resides in Aventura, FL.
