Ex Norwegian Songs to be Featured in Canes Film Festival Documentary

Each May, the curtain at the Cosford Cinema in Coral Gables goes up for three days as UM film students’ works are screened at the Canes Film Festival – a moment of both excitement and closure for the young filmmakers who have devoted an entire semester or year to bringing their visions to fruition. This year, seniors Mariel Butan, Daria DeGaetano, and Shelley Scovin will be screening a documentary that not only commemorates the senior film class of 2009, but also tips its hat to UM Alumnus Arturo Garcia. Underexposed: The University of Miami Senior Film Class of 2009 features music by Ex Norwegian, an up and coming band based out of Miami, of which Arturo is the drummer.

Mariel, Daria, and Shelley are excited to incorporate the music of a UM alum in a film that is meant to be a tribute to the collaborative community the current graduating class of film majors has fostered, as well as what students learned from and given to the university over their four years in Miami. Underexposed will make its debut at the CanesFest, which will run from May 8th-10th at the Cosford Cinema, located on the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables.
