Ex Norwegian perform “Upper Hand” on Big City Breakdown
Ex Norwegian give a sneak preview with “Upper Hand”, a song from their upcoming record Sketch, on Big City Breakdown. BCB is video feature where local musicians are taken out of their typical performance element and placed at one of Miami’s signature outdoor locations as they present a song. The presentation is a single running take with no editing magic. BCB is an opportunity to showcase Miami’s best talent, highlighting their versatility without electricity, four walls, and other amenities of the bar and club scene.
Originally, Ex Norwegian was planned to perform at Miami’s most accessible castle and on a chilly afternoon day, Roger, Nina, and Arturo stormed the castle with an arsenal of percussive equipment, a melodica, and two guitars. Upon performing some tests, it was learned that the street noise and other distracting factors would not be suitable to film this performance. Ultimately, the band appeared playing to a crowd of hundreds in Miami’s public cemetery to everyone’s delight.
“The song has a catchy hook and positive message to continue fighting against all odds. We were impressed by the tightness and professionalism of the band. I still find myself singing the song in my head to this day. I believe the resting souls enjoyed the performance that afternoon as much as we did. How often do the departed have the benefit of witnessing such a delightful treat on their turf?” said Steve Imas, video director.
